After hitting the transfer portal from the University of Albany on Thursday night, former Great Danes linebacker Joe Casale didn’t spend much time in the portal as he transferred to Robert Morris on Saturday.

Casale, a redshirt sophomore has two years of eligibility remaining when he makes his Colonials debut next fall.

After not seeing much action in his freshman season in 2018, Casale saw a ramp-up in production in his second season as he appeared in all 14 games that year, recording 28 tackles.

After not playing in the COVID-shortened 2021 spring season, Casale returned in 2021, appearing in all 12 of the Great Danes’ contests, starting two and recording 30 total tackles.

Casale recorded a career-high nine tackles in his team’s 62-42 loss to Syracuse on September 18.

Against Morgan State on November 13, he led the Great Danes with 7 total tackles and a pass breakup in the team’s win.

Casale looks to bolster the Colonials linebacking core and the defense after Robert Morris finished 3-4 in their first full season in Big South play.
