AKRON, OHIO– After obliterating the Kent State Golden Flashes 23-4 on senior day, RMU women’s lacrosse (9-2, 5-0 MAC) will look to continue their best start in program history as they meet the Akron Zips (5-5, 2-3 MAC) on the road Saturday at 2 p.m.

Recapping the Colonials

The seven graduate players have paved the way for Robert Morris this season leading them to a perfect conference record that they will look to keep. Both coming off hat-tricks against Kent State, Melanie and Mackenzie Gandy have been insane.

Depth scoring has also helped the team as well with 13 players registering a point against Kent State last Friday. Add that to the defensive depth with players like Kelly Colegrove and Shea McArdle, and Robert Morris is one tough team to beat.

Scouting Akron

Akron is another mediocre MAC team with a 5-5 record. Robert Morris tackled Akron earlier in the season at home and whooped them 15-4. To put the Colonials’ MAC dominance into perspective, the most goals allowed in MAC play this season for the Colonials is seven against Youngstown State and Central Michigan. The Colonials have outscored MAC opponents 85-25 and are clearly on another level.

Players to Watch

Katrina Silva (RMU) – I am cheating here and adding the head coach of Robert Morris in Silva instead of a player. Watching the game against Kent State, Silva kept in her star players for the majority of the game despite the lopsided score. Look for this to happen again as RMU will show no mercy and keep their feet on the necks of Akron.

Offense (RMU) – I couldn’t pick a single player here, so I am again going to cheat and say that you should watch the entire RMU offense (which you will be doing if you tune into this game). Clio Kerr, Kelley Flynn, Colleen Tifft, and both Gandy twins will serve for some quality entertainment this weekend.

Ashley Lapp (Akron) – Lapp will certainly be a name to watch in this matchup as Robert Morris will be in Akron’s zone for the majority of the game. Lapp better start praying because her mediocre .518 save percentage will be up against an offensive juggernaut.

Score Prediction

Robert Morris women’s lacrosse is the best team on campus currently. Everything is going right for the team and they will win the MAC regular-season title. This weekend they will steamroll another opponent in Akron 20-6 showing no mercy as always.
