MOON TOWNSHIP– The women’s lacrosse team will be hosting Youngstown State in some mid-afternoon MAC-tion on Saturday. Last time out, they beat Central Michigan 12-7.

The Colonials (7-2, 3-0 MAC) look to continue their hot start. The Penguins (1-3, 1-3) have had a bit of a tough season they are 1-3 on the year, but one factor could be is they have had two games canceled.

Recapping the Colonials

The Colonials have had a fantastic season thus far. They are 3-0 in-conference and also are on a two-game winning streak. In the last two games, they won 12-7 against Central Michigan and 15-4 against Akron, having their game at Detroit Mercy that was sandwiched in between the two canceled. The Colonials have been so good at playing a team style that has gotten them wins thus far.

Scouting the Penguins

The Penguins haven’t played a lot of games this season, but in the ones they have played, it has not gone well. In their four games, they have dropped three, including a 19-10 loss to Kent State in their last game. It seems the Penguins have had a hard time keeping the ball out of the net. They are going to have to find a way to get some stops on defense.

Players to Watch

Mackenzie Gandy (RMU) – The all-time points leader in program history is off to another great start. With 30 points on the year, she leads the team in points. There is no doubt that she is going to continue to keep it going and help the Colonials win this one.

Melanie Gandy (RMU) – Like her sister, Melanie has played really well as another reliable scoring option for Robert Morris. She has 29 points, including a four-goal effort against Central Michigan. If she can continue rolling in this one, she will be a huge help for the Colonials.

Lauren Ottensmeyer (YSU) – She has been one of the few bright spots for the Pens, as in four games, she has eight goals. With not many games on the year, she has been a big help for the Penguins.

Elicia Wells (YSU) – Wells is the only goaltender who has seen time in the cage. So far, she has a .476 save percentage, which will absolutely need to increase if the Pens can win this one, and if she does, don’t be surprised if they win.

The Colonials will be too much for the Penguins and will take this one 19-10.
