ROCK HILL, S.C.– The men’s lacrosse team (3-6) will be taking on Jacksonville (5-3, 2-0 SOCON) in the Crown Lacrosse Classic at 12 p.m. in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This comes after a 13-9 loss to Drexel in Philadelphia. The Colonials are looking to get a win back and get on a step closer to .500 as they have dropped the two games. Jacksonville is looking to continue their good start as they are 5-3 on the year. The Dolphins have won the last two games in a row.

Recapping the Colonials

The Colonials come into this one after they lost the two games, but on the bright side, they have been able to keep with some of the best teams in the country. Most recently a 14-12 lost to number nine Virginia, after that a bit of a disappointing loss at the hands of Drexel. The Colonials come into this one top 20 in the country in assist, the team style of play has really helped them this season.

Scouting the Dolphins

The Dolphins have played well this season, swimming to a 2-0 record in the Southern Conference (SOCON). They have beat the teams they should beat, as evidenced by a 19-8 win over Bellarmine. The Dolphins also have won the last two games in a row with 16-6 wins over Mercer and 18-12 over the Virginia Military Institute. The Dolphins are looking to continue their winning ways.

Players to Watch

Ryan Smith (RMU) – Smith has had an amazing season so far with 27 goals and 42 assists in eight games. Smith has been the best on the field for the Colonials this season. If Smith is having another great game, the Colonials could take this one.

Andrew McMinn (RMU) – McMinn has been the head coach for 10 years. He has done a fantastic job getting the program going. He and the staff are going to have to do a great job game-planning if they are going to win this one against a tough opponent.

Jack Dolan (JAX) – Dolan has had a good season so far for the Dolphins. He has netted 17 goals and 14 assists. Dolan did really well offensively for the Dolphins against VMI, scoring seven points for his second-straight game of seven. When they need to get a goal, they know they can count on him.

Matt Stagnitta (JAX) – Stagnitta has been solid for the Dolphins. He has 11 goals and 14 assists, including ten points in his last two games. The Johns Hopkins transfer has been a welcome addition for the Dolphins this season.

Prediction

I think Dolan will be too much for the Colonials and the Dolphins will take this one 13-9, extending the Jacksonville win streak to three.
