UPDATE (2/12/21 5:26 p.m.) – AJ Bramah tweets that he has officially entered the transfer portal, stating, Dear Colonial Nation, I want to start off by saying I truly appreciate Coach Toole and the coaching staff for giving me an opportunity here at Robert Morris University. This university has given me so much. There have been some amazing people in every area of the building, and I can only hope they know the impact they’ve had on me. After prayer, deep reflection, and some difficult conversations, I’ve decided that I will be entering the transfer portal but also looking at the option of taking the professional route. My time here at RMU has been phenomenal and I’ve truly enjoyed my experience here. With that being said I would not be returning for the remainder of the season. THANK YOU COLONIAL NATION!!”

UPDATE (2/12/21 4:08 p.m.) – AJ Bramah has confirmed via Twitter to CSN reporter Austin Bechtold that he is transferring from the program.

With only two weeks left to go in the 2020-21 Horizon League regular-season schedule, the last place Robert Morris Colonials may have a larger issue on their hands.

MakingTheMadness.com writer Sean Paul reported Friday afternoon that star guard/forward AJ Bramah has entered the transfer portal.

Bramah has been the catalyst of RMU’s offense this season, leading the team in points (21) as well as the Horizon League in rebounds (11.4).

Bramah excelled down low for Robert Morris in his first season with the Colonials last year after transferring from Sheridan College in Wyoming, posting 13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The senior from San Leandro, California dramatically improved his jump shot as RMU transitioned from the NEC to the Horizon League, becoming a more dynamic ball-handler and scorer in the process.

Bramah did not travel with the team to face defending conference regular-season champion Wright State on January 29-30 for a potential matchup against 2019-20 Horizon League Player of the Year Loudon Love. A team spokesperson spoke to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about Bramah’s absence from the series.

“AJ is paused from team activity and will not be playing this weekend,” the spokesperson said.

Bramah’s has been a consistent offensive threat all season and has the opportunity to capitalize on the extra year of eligibility granted to athletes from the NCAA due to continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Entering Friday night’s home series against Oakland, the Colonials find themselves 3-11 overall and 2-9 in their first season in Horizon League play.

RMU will host the Golden Grizzlies for a two-game series this weekend before capping off the regular season at Detroit Mercy on February 19-20, leading up to the conference tournament to follow.
