FORT WAYNE, Ind.– After the RMU women’s track team had their 2021 season begin in Youngstown for the YSU Mid-Major invitational, they will stay on the road for the Mastodon Invitational against Purdue-Fort Wayne.

In Youngstown, the Colonials were able to take a few events as senior Estelle Katende got first place in shot-put, throwing a 13.68-meter toss. Look out for Katende to continue to do well in the shot-put for RMU.

The Mastodons took place in the Sycamore Team Challenge the last time they were in action. They came in fifth place overall. Jessica Turpin-Hudson took third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.42 seconds.

The next time both teams will compete is in the Horizon League Indoor Championships on February 27. That event will take place in Fort Wayne as well, giving the Mastodons some home cooking. The next meet for the Colonials will be the Denison Invitational in Gainesville, Ohio.

For the Colonials, keep an eye on Estelle Katende and Yessie Valencia as they attempt to have significant throws in the shot-put. They will be key factors in RMU’s chances against the Mastodons in this invitational.
