YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO– After a long offseason, the Robert Morris women’s track & field team is set to start the 2021 season in Youngstown, Ohio for the YSU Mid-Major Invitational.

The last time the team had a meet was the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships. It was a disappointing finish to the season as they finished ninth in the meet. On the bright side, Yessie Valencia was able to get the silver medal in the weight throw, with a record toss of 15.75 meters.

The next event after the NEC Championship was a meet in Morgantown, West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers, which was unfortunately canceled. The Colonials look to improve from last season as their year was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After RMU finishes the YSU Invitational, they will be going to the Purdue-Fort Wayne Invitational on February 12. Another meet to look out for this year is the RMU Invite taking place on April 17.

One member of the roster they hope will have a good season will be Junior Paige Bonin, who in 2019 was a member of the All-NEC Rookie Team. The Colonials will be looking to improve on their ninth-place finish in the NEC in 2019, and their first step will be doing well in the YSU Invitational.
