On Friday, it was announced that St. Bonaventure transfer Justin Winston had committed to Robert Morris. Winston announced it via his Instagram. Tom Seipp of The Bona Venture (St. Bonaventure’s student-run newspaper) first reported it, and it was later also confirmed by Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Winston, a 6’8″ forward from West Orange, New Jersey, was a three-star recruit with the Bonnies. Winston will be a redshirt sophomore and have three seasons of eligibility left following this season, where he will have to sit out the remainder of the year due to NCAA transfer rules. He announced his decision to transfer on December 30.

Winston played in 31 games as a freshman with the Bonnies, starting 28 of them. He averaged 8.7 points-per-game, 3.4 rebounds-per-game, and shot 43.8-percent from the field as well as 33.3-percent from beyond the arc.

Winston played two games this season for the Bonnies, coming off the bench before he made his decision to transfer. He was averaging 3.0 points-per-game and 1.5 rebounds-per-game as the Bonnies played just three games before he left the program. St. Bonaventure has played to an 8-1 record as a member of the Atlantic 10 (A-10) conference.

Winston was seen on the bench during the team’s recent Northern Kentucky series, so he already will be getting acclimated to the schemes and systems from Andy Toole.

Winston joins Brandon Stone (La Salle) as the second A-10 transfer for the upcoming men’s basketball season. Both Winston and Stone are huge gets for this team as they look to add size in the frontcourt next season, and they have done just that.
