ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.– On Thursday, the Duke City Gladiators of the Indoor Football League (IFL) announced that they had signed former Robert Morris quarterback Caleb Lewis to join the team in its first season as an IFL franchise.

Lewis transferred to RMU in 2018 after spending time at Louisiana State University (LSU). Lewis appeared in ten career games for the Colonials from 2018-19, completing 45-86 passes for 610 yards and five touchdowns.

Lewis was the starting signal-caller on 9/21/19 at the Virginia Military Institute, a game the Colonials won 31-21 to snap a 21-game road losing streak. Lewis went 12-17 for 215 yards and a touchdown in that game.

He was also the starting quarterback in the program’s first league victory since 2016 on 10/12/19 at Saint Francis, completing 9-22 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns including one in the waning seconds of the game to force overtime in a game the Colonials would win 20-17.

Duke City is moving to the Indoor Football League after spending five seasons in the Southern Division of the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league. Overall, Duke City went 39-20 in their five seasons, winning the Champions Bowl in 2018 and 2019 and making the postseason three times. They were slated to begin their play in the IFL in 2020, but the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
