MOON TOWNSHIP, PA- The men’s hockey team begins their 2020-21 hockey season with two games against the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers this weekend. The Colonials will host the Chargers with both teams looking to kick off their seasons with series wins at Clearview Arena.

Recapping RMU

The Colonials return to the ice after the 2019-20 season was cut short due to COVID-19. Last year they went 13-19-5 and 11-12-5-3 in conference play. The last time they took the ice was in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, when the Colonials defeated Holy Cross in round one. RMU was set to take on Sacred Heart in round two, but the game was canceled due to the pandemic.

Scouting UAH

The Chargers had a rough year in 2019. They went 2-26-6 overall and 2-20-6 in conference play. The last time the Chargers took the ice they hosted Bowling Green. The Falcons defeated the Chargers 4-3 in the first matchup and 4-1 in the rubber match. The Chargers look to improve on a 2019 season where they struggled.

A new face on the Chargers’ bench is Lance West. West is taking over for Mike Corbett, who, is now on the bench with the Colonials. Lynch was an assistant coach under Corbett at UAH, and before that, was the interim head coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks during the 2017-18 season. With the Nanooks, Lynch posted an 11-22-3 record.
