MOON TOWNSHIP– On Wednesday, Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Chris King announced during an interview on the Paul Zeise Show that the Colonials’ football team will travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia on February 27 to take on the James Madison Dukes as part of their spring non-conference schedule.

RMU has some history with James Madison, as they traveled to Harrisonburg in 2018 to take on the Dukes and were subsequently routed 73-7. JMU put up 52 first-half points in that contest.

James Madison is a top team in the FCS subdivision, and one of the premier Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) football programs. The Dukes posted an overall record of 14-2, including a perfect 8-0 in the CAA, claiming first place in the conference in 2019. JMU has made it to the FCS championship game in three out of the past four years and winning it all back in 2016.

The Colonials finished with a 7-5 overall record last season, including a 5-1 NEC record which was good for second in the conference. Robert Morris is on the move to the Big South Conference as they will be able to compete for a conference title in the spring season, and have brought some clarity and strength to their schedule by adding the Dukes to it.
