MOON TOWNSHIP– On Monday afternoon, the men’s lacrosse team announced via Twitter that 2018 alumnus and former attackman Jimmy Perkins is set to return to the university for his seventh year of eligibility.

Perkins, who had spent the last two seasons at the University of Utah, joins Adam Charalambides of Rutgers as the only other NCAA men’s lacrosse player in their seventh year of eligibility.

Perkins joined the lacrosse team as a walk-on in 2014, but injuries cut his first two seasons short, and he started play in the 2017 season. Through two seasons at RMU, Perkins scored 79 points in 34 games as a Colonial, including helping Robert Morris win the NEC Championship in 2018. Perkins also broke the single-game record for assists on February 9, 2018, recording six of them at Bellarmine. He was named to the 2018 All-NEC Second Team as well as being named to the All-Tournament Team.

Perkins spent the last two seasons at the University of Utah pursuing his master’s degree, and played for their brand-new lacrosse program, serving as captain for the Utes both seasons. He scored the first goal in program history and recorded 31 points in 12 games during the 2019 season. He was on pace for more during the 2020 season, recording 21 points in just six games–but the COVID-19 pandemic cut the NCAA lacrosse season short–allowing Perkins to return to RMU for another season.
