Lindsey Monger takes student-athlete award

From the turf of Joe Walton stadium to the hardwood of the Sewall Center, Lindsey Monger, senior-outside hitter, took home the Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor.

With 20 kills and 22 digs in the five-set thriller against West Virginia this past Tuesday, it was clear who rightfully deserved the honor.

“I feel like we came off really strong as a team. We didn’t get the wins that we wanted, but overall I feel that we came off as a team that did very well and hopefully it pays off later in the season,” claimed the Rising Sun, Maryland native.

Her double-double against the Mountaineers extended her streak to five-straight games with more than 10 kills and 10 digs.

“Twenty kills is great, but I cannot take all of the credit. I must say that the team has helped me get good passes and get good sets; I needed the sets in order to put them down,” said Monger.

Prior to Tuesday’s contest, the Colonials lost four of their past five matches and came off a 1-3 weekend at the Maddie Bingaman Invitational. Now, Robert Morris must travel to Texas and participate in the SFA Tournament.

Dale Starr and his crew will take on Southern Mississippi tomorrow afternoon to begin the tournament.
