HIGHLAND, Mich.– On Monday and Tuesday, the Robert Morris golf team (+162) finished in last place with a +100 tournament in the Titans Motown Collegiate at Prestwick Village G.C.

The Grand Valley State Lakers (+38) won the tournament with a combined score of 15 over par. Andrew Hammett, a senior for the Ferris State Bulldogs (+91) shot the lowest score of the tournament, a 6 under.

This week the Colonials were led by Max Palmer, whose 16 over tournament was the lowest on the team and placed him in a tie for 26th. Palmer shot an even-par in the front nine in the first round.

Kyle Grube was two shots behind Palmer, shooting an 18 over par. Grube’s tournament score placed him in a tie for 31st with Jack Weller of Ferris State. In the first round, the junior from Indiana, Pennsylvania eagled the fourth hole on his way to a 5 over par round.

Nicholas Mihalo was playing as an independent for the Colonials, and he shot a total of 247 strokes, which gave him a +38, and sole possession of 53rd place. Mihalo parred the sixth and seventh hole on every round.

In a tie for 54th, David Szymanski shot a +33. Szymanski’s low round of the tournament was a 7-over-par 79. Last year, he won the tournament at even par.

Also tied for 54th was Daniel Franco Saad. This was Saad’s first tournament of the year and in the third round the Colombian senior shot three birdies.

Bryce Gorrell rounds out the field for the Colonials, as his three-round score of +42 placed him in a 58th place. On the front nine, Gorrell shot a combined +13.

Robert Morris will have a week off but will hope to rebound from this tournament on October 28 and 29. The Colonials will travel to the Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida to take part in the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic.
