Moon Tigers vs. Baldwin Highlanders football preview

Preston Moore, Moon Sports Beat Writer

The Baldwin Highlanders (2-1) come into Moon Stadium looking to bounce back from a 21-28 loss to Upper St. Clair. The Tigers (1-2) look to defend their home turf and bounce back from a brutal loss at the hands of a dominant Pine Richland team.

Last Friday, Baldwin took the offensive and scored first against Upper St. Clair. However, Upper St. Clair mounted a steady comeback to eventually win 28-21. This loss was tough for Baldwin as their previous time playing Upper St. Clair also resulted in a loss.

Some Highlanders to look out for are Noah Bartic and Jarren Kelly. Bartic is a defensive tackle who creates constant pressure and is a consistent run stopper. Kelly is a wide receiver who constantly produces and can easily turn the tide of a game.

Moon Area’s last contest against Pine Richland ended in a blowout 42-14 score. Pine Richland struck first and fast with a pick-six in the second play of the game. Pine Richland’s defense, special teams, and offense were firing on all cylinders and could not be stopped.

Some Tigers to look out for are Christian Tanner and Brady Sunday. Tanner is a linebacker and running back who is the clear leader of the Tiger’s defense with his sideline to sideline coverage and his emotion playing the game. Do not sleep on his running ability either, Tanner had a 57-yard rushing touchdown last Friday. Sunday is a running back and linebacker. Sunday is the starting running back who always runs hard and downfield. When Sunday receives a block or two he can easily break a run for a touchdown.

This should be an interesting conference matchup with both teams having yet to win a conference game. This game could easily be decided in the last two minutes of the game.
