Game One

RMU 3 (5-4), Morgan State (0-9): The Colonials bounced back well after losing to Winthrop Friday as they defeated Morgan State with ease in their first game Saturday in the UMBC Tournament in Baltimore Maryland. RMU defeated Morgan State three sets to none with set scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-11. Senior Arden fisher once again led Robert Morris with 14 kills. Junior Brianna Frakes also helped in a big way finishing with 24 assists.

Game Two:

RMU 3 (6-4), UMBC 2 (7-3): RMU took on UMBC in their second match Saturday and their final match of the weekend. It took longer than their first match of the day but RMU was able to improve to 6-4 on the season taking down UMBC in maximum sets. Robert Morris opened the match with a 26-24 first set win and then followed with a 25-14 second set victory to get out to an early match lead. However, UMBC answered with a 25-14 set win of their own in the third set. UMBC then won the fourth set 25-22 to tie the game at 2 sets apiece and force a fifth and final set. After UMBC tied the set at 15, the Colonials put away their opponent with back-to-back points and won the final set 17-15. Arden Fisher’s 16 kills, Taylor Lord’s 11 kills, and Brianna Schmid’s 10 kills helped RMU capture their sixth win of the season. Sophomore Liz Campbell’s 22 assists and Brianna Frakes 20 assists were also a big part of RMU’s victory.
