Game One:

Mercer 5 (10-16), RMU 3 (5-17): RMU took on Mercer Saturday morning in their first game of a double-header to kick off their last day in Boca Raton, Florida. The Colonials held a 4-0 lead after the top half of the fourth inning but Mercer went on to score four unanswered runs, including the game tying running in the seventh inning to force extra innings. The Colonials were held scoreless in the eighth inning and Mercer would then capitalize on a single in the bottom of the extra frame to bring home a base runner and earn the victory. Junior Jordan Gurganus led RMU in total hits with three and senior Haileigh Stocks led the team with two RBI’s.

Game Two:

RMU 5 (6-17), Rutgers 4 (8-13): Robert Morris ended their play in the weekend tournament on a high note defeating Rutgers 5-4 in their second straight extra innings contest. RMU built a 2-0 lead in the third inning after an outfield mishap and a RBI single from senior Ashley Gerhart. Rutgers would eventually find the scoreboard in the sixth inning scoring two runs to tie the game. The Colonials proceeded to re-take the lead immediately at 4-2 in bottom of the inning via a Rutgers fielding error. However, the Scarlet Knights wouldn’t go down without a fight as they tied the game in seventh inning at 4 to ultimately force extra innings. Unlike the Colonials first game of the day, they were able to score a run in extra innings as Gerhart recorded the walk-off single. Freshman Kaitlin Ellzy increased her season record to 6-7. Ellzy went all eight innings for her team giving up the four total runs, one earned run on seven hits allowed.
